These photos of dogs with children are very cute and lovely and will melt your heart! Photographer Lindsay Potter loves photography and specializes in family photography. Many of their photos show family dogs interacting in a friendly way with their youngest member of the family, which is exactly what families want.
“Most of my clients love their dogs very much and consider them part of the family,” Lindsay, a South Florida photographer, told DogHeirs.com. “I try to capture the love that everyone feels for one another.” “What’s more affectionate than a family dog?”
That love shines through in the pet photos of a mother and former elementary school teacher. Maybe that’s partly because Lindsay really loves dogs. Lindsay shared some of her photos and shares how her family saved her two dogs. One of her dogs – Jensen – is known all over town for her strange behavior.
“My husband and I had the coolest yellow lab in the world, Georgia. She was the kind of dog she’d never forget. Since the day we adopted her, she and my husband had been inseparable. She even went to work him every day. When she died of old age we were devastated. ”
“After a while we decided to adopt another dog. We discussed the possibility of having another lab or maybe a mastiff. My husband went to a local animal shelter and found a dog that was listed as a mastiff / lab mix. She was hit by a car and the shelter was taking care of her. We thought it should … fate and we adopted Jensen that week. ”
“We soon learn that Jensen has the energy of about 20 Jack Russell Terriers on RedBull, and she was definitely the smartest bitch we have ever met. She exhibited a lot of strange / naughty behaviors (running away, napping at the dinner table), chews everything in sight.) Not every day a 90 pound dog jumps into the kitchen sink to pee! ”
“Although we gave Jensen a lot of exercise, we thought she could behave a little better if she had a boyfriend. We really missed having a yellow lab and we found one in another shelter that gave up because he had heartworms. Say, “We named him Sawyer (we were a huge fan of the LOST show at the time), took him home, and started treating his heartworms.
Fortunately, he did not suffer from permanent heart damage and has been a healthy dog ever since. We describe Sawyer as his “textbook laboratory”. When you fed him you would rub your stomach and tell him he was a good boy he thought it was the best day of his life!
“Jensen isn’t easy to spot. She’s kind of an escape artist. She’s usually inside, but she can get out of the back yard easily. We have a 6-foot fence that she jumped over, or ate or dug through.” We installed her once in a penitentiary and ate a hole her length. “3 feet through a chain link fence and I ran away (luckily she was okay).”
“We tried to put her in a cage when we left the house, but she learned how to unlock the locks and she can find a way out of the box in 30 seconds. In fact, she’s so adept at it to escape that Animal Control keeps them. ” their description in the file. ”
“Among Jensen’s favorite hobbies are taking naps on our dining room table, walking around on our kitchen countertops, opening doors and drawers, eating things she’s not supposed to, running away, hanging out on top of our BBQ grill (better vantage point to find lizards to catch), sliding down the slide on our childrens’ play-set, pushing pillows off of the beds (once they’re made), and jumping onto anything high.”
“After reading countless dog behavior and training books, we looked for guidance from several different vets, specialists and trainers. We finally found help with a Veterinary Behaviorist. She confirmed that Jensen was an unusually intelligent dog who had containment issues and needed an incredible amount of mental stimulation.”
“We now have a special routine for Jensen which includes a rotation of dog toys, unique puzzles for her to find her breakfast and dinner, permission to nap on our dining room table and countertops, and frequent visits to a Doggy Day Care facility.”
“This has helped her quite a bit and her attempts to run away have been reduced dramatically.”
“We’ve had Jensen for almost 4 years now and every day has been an interesting adventure. The one thing which remains constant is our love for her, and her love for our family. It hasn’t been easy, but when I see her cuddling with our children on their beds each night, I know that it has been worth it.”
