#1 The Lantern
There’s a beautifully quant nursing home in Chagrin Falls, Ohio which was designed alzheimer’s and dementia patients feel like they’ve been transported back to 1940.

#2 The Details
The rooms are designed like full homes with a porch and front lawn, all leading to a golf course at the end of the facility. Designers used special fiber optics to create the ceiling, allowing it to provide a daylight and starry night atmosphere.
#3 The Atmosphere
“Every little thing you see, the wall color, the paint, actually has a therapeutic benefit, a therapeutic value,” CEO Jean Makesh said. The environment is a peaceful one for those suffering from mental disabilities.

#4 Peaceful Living
Anxiety, anger, and depression can all be reduced when a person is in a calming environment, which was the idea Jean had when creating the nursing home.
#5 Classes
Daily classes are also provided to help patients remain aware and mobile. “I take them back to those memories. I create a time capsule. It enables them to embrace everything around them,” Makesh told reporters.
#6 Long Term Effects
Makesh believes having an environment such as the one he’s created will help slow the progression of similar diseases on a long term scale. We sure wouldn’t mind living here when we retire!
