Honestly, do you know them? They are back on stage after 40 years!

The members of ABBA have reunited over 40 years after their last collaboration. The Swedish musical quartet has planned a “hologram” event in London as well as the release of its first new album in four decades.

“We went on hiatus in the spring of 1982, and now we’ve decided it’s time to come back,” the band said in a statement. “It’s said that waiting more than 40 years between albums is foolish, therefore we’ve produced a follow-up to The Visitors.”

ABBA stands for Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad, as well as Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, instrumentalists and songwriters. They debuted as a cabaret act in 1970. With “Waterloo,” they won the Eurovision Song Contest four years later. With songs like “Dancing Queen” and “Fernando,” they became celebrities. Another smash, “Mamma Mia,” spawned a Broadway musical as well as a film starring Meryl Streep (and a sequel) (and Cher).

The Visitors, ABBA’s most recent album, was released in 1981 and featured a more complex sound than the group’s previous light pop music. One of the band’s two married couples had already divorced, and the other was on the verge of doing so.

All of the members are now in their seventies and have made a number of solo albums. ABBA has been hinting at a reunion for numerous years.

Voyage, the band’s latest album, will be released on November 5th. The singles “I Still Have Faith in You” and “Don’t Shut Me Down,” which were recorded at Andersson’s Riksmixningsverket studio in Stockholm, are among the album’s highlights.

ABBA says it was inspired to record again after putting on “the craziest and most amazing show you could possibly think of,” according to the statement. The band will perform digitally with a real band in a specially built arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park next May, using likenesses developed by a team from George Lucas’ Industrial Light & Magic.

The announcement states, “We’ll be able to sit back in an audience and watch our digital selves play our songs on a stage in a custom-built arena in London next spring.” The event’s tickets will go on sale on September 5th.

The statement says, “We’re truly sailing in uncharted waters.” “We journey into the future with the help of our younger selves. It’s not easy to explain, but then again, nothing like this has ever been done before.”
