In this unusual animal rescue video, a hunter helps rescue a fox stranded on an ice sheet and swimming in a river.
The man was out on the water near Castle Hill, Russia when he spotted dogs pacing back and forth on a small piece of ice. The ice floated offshore and almost certainly drowned the fox.
When the hunter approaches the abandoned fox, the bird flies and the fox looks up, possibly to see if the approaching figure poses a threat.
Instead of risking catching the fox – which could be dangerous for both sides – the fisherman decided to use his boat to shove his floating ice to the bank.
The fox seems to know immediately that it is being brought ashore and remains vigilant to see how far it is from the shore.
When they get close enough the fox will jump into the water and swim the rest of the way to dry the ground. The gentle hunter waits for the fox to build it and watches as the fox wobbles out of its wet fur and walks towards the forest. In the video below you can see the hunter carrying the fox to the beach.
