James, a photographer by profession, was at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park back in 2013 when he came across the unexpected. He had to face a fierce elk.
While taking photos, an elk appeared. As opposed to getting up and running away, he lowered his face. When he did that, the elk assumed James wanted to head-butt or run – something that male elks usually do. That is when the animal started to physically harass James.
The head-butting from the young elk must have hurt the photographer and the video below has covered the unfortunate experience. We have to appreciate James’ calmness during the experience since if he could have decided to run away, it could have provoked the elk to cause more harm.
Finally, James managed to escape, but I’m sure he will always be careful whenever out in the wild. How will you have reacted if you were in James’ shoes?
